Beginners' Guide to the Las Vegas Swing Dancing SceneI want to join the Swing Scene in Vegas. Where do I go? If you have never danced before in your life, or you are new to Las Vegas, and want to enjoy some swing dancing, there are several great options for you here in Las Vegas. You might be a little intimidated looking at the calendar on the front page. That calendar contains all the scheduled swing events that I hear about. I can not vouch for the quality of all of them. So I wanted to make this special post to highlight the events that I know are good for beginners. If you are a beginner looking to start dancing, I recommend these three weekly events: Aruba SwingsThe Aruba hotel on the strip has been the primary place to swing dance in Vegas for years. There is a FREE beginner lesson and social dance every Friday night (except the first Friday of the month). There is also a beginner lesson on Friday. Lots of cool new people show up every Friday, so you should too! However, you must be 21 to enter. More details... The teacher and primary DJ at the Aruba is Mark Brunton. Mark is a great guy. When I was new in Vegas last June he made sure I felt welcome and comfortable. So you should come meet Mark too. If you like the bar/club atmosphere, with dim lights and concrete floors, come out to the Aruba next Friday or Sunday (and ask for David!) Swing Dance Nights as Las PalmasAnother venue is the spacious Las Palmas Mexican restaurant. Come out for swing dancing every Wednesday night! There is a free beginner lesson from Mark Brunton starting around 6:30pm and open dancing until 10pm. For more info call Eric King at 702-677-4751 or see the calendar of the Swing N' Salsa Dance Meetup of Las Vegas or look on the front page of this site. If you like dancing in the atmosphere of a well-lit Mexican restaurant with great food and tons of space, come out to Las Palmas next Wednesday. UNLV Lindy Hop Dance ClubEvery week during the school year, UNLV's Lindyhop Club holds free swing lessons! I have never attended one of their lessons, but I've met the teachers and several students because they come out to the Aruba and Las Palmas. For more information, see UNLVlindyhop.com. Questions? If you have any questions, feel free to email us or better yet, make a free account on SwingDanceVegas.com and post in our Forums.

Thank you for the info, I
Thank you for the info, I always like to be informed before I go wondering around in the big cities. I find it very important to have a schedule and bookings at hotels. For example I found some reviews at these New Orleans hotels .. very good reviews and I made a phone call and booked my room. It's much more simpler right? Now, I have to find myself the perfect hotel in Vegas that grants me the best scene to dance!:)
